Fans of PUBG in India can look forward to exciting news now. It is official! The game has returned to India. Now that PUBG is back again in India, it is being rebranded as Battlegrounds Mobile India by Krafton.
An official blog post from the company states that BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA will launch on mobile devices as a free-to-play experience. This will crown it again as the best AAA multiplayer title on mobile gaming. It will also get exclusive features targeted at Indian markets, like outfits of attire, etc. This new title will be available for both Android and iOS devices and will be exclusive to India only.
According to Krafton, the game has its own mobile Esports platform with Indian content and tournaments. Also, he expresses the privacy of Indian users for this game. Battlegrounds Mobile India will work in compliance with all Indian rules and regulations to ensure data protection.
As part of Krafton’s plans to reinvigorate their mobile gaming business in the world’s largest market, the company committed $100 million in November. Based on SensorTower data, the company had over 175 million downloads for the original title, so I think this strategy is wise.
The development community and Data Scientists can easily identify that India is an enormous market for Mobile gaming. However, a ban on PUBG by the government has decimated the market size. Rupantar Guha estimates the Battleground Mobile India market (associate project manager, thematic research, Global Data) to be worth more than $1 billion in 2021.
Let’s now answer the most important question. When can you play Battleground Mobile in India? Unfortunately, we don’t have an answer for this right now. Krafton says that the company has a separate pre-registration timeline before the launch. Our prediction is that the servers will be ready soon, looking forward to reviewing the changes once the gameplay is available.
